The 2023 Mission Foods Moto Beach Classic was an all-out banger on the beach. We joined nearly 10,000 motorcyclists surfside for a full day of all things moto brought to you by the crew at Roland Sands Design. Bolsa Chica State Beach and California State Beaches once again provided a spectacular backdrop for the unlikely combination of motorcycle racing, music, art, bike show, vendors, bike demos, food, and drink.

Things got kicked off at 10am with a Jet Ski Freestyle demo by the world’s best jet ski surf free riders. The Surf Gods delivered big time with head-high waves and light winds in the morning. @markgomez137@chrismo54 and @tommythebomberbonacci put on an incredible show brought to the crowd by Bomber eyewear. Flips, cutbacks, massive airs and barrel rides blew minds and built a wave that pushed the hype for the rest of the day. The packed crowd enjoyed 3 demos between 10 and 2 which brought moto entertainment to the sea.

Sea Legs Main stage music got started at 11am with local cover band Kicktime courtesy of @tincanbeachcomber. Local legend and Grand Ol’ Opera star Alice Wallace followed with an intricate vocal medley and later blessed the race crowd with a National Anthem that brought the house down. Orange County resident No Duh brought their No Doubt covers loud and clear to a growing beachfront crowd. The final show of the night Red Neck Rodeo proved why they are the kings of Huntington Beach County Rock anthems which they performed to a rambunctious crowd that sang along to every word.

The Mission Foods Super Hooligan racetrack was the main attraction for the day and featured an asphalt oval that proved both fast and consistent for the nearly 100 riders who signed up to battle each other in many different classes. The Super Hooligans headlined the races with Sammy Halbert taking the win on his Indian FTR 1200 prepped by Roland Sands Design who finally won their first Moto Beach Classic after 6 years of trying. Frankie Garcia on an HD Street 750 battled to the end for the top spot but was edged out by the Halbert. Fast J’s rider Joe Winston pulled off a 3rd on a borrowed bike followed by past SHNC Champion Andy Debrino on a stock KTM and 2023 GNC Hooligan Champion Tony Alves on his beautiful HD Sportster. The Hooligan Ladies race was won by Cassidy Kastle in a tough battle with Tiana Falls followed by Shonie Shoemaker in 3rd and Erin Ferris in 4th. The always scrappy Hooligan Armature race highlights future Super Hooligans. #911 Nate Perkins took the win with Graham Gustin in 2nd and Casey Brossard in 3rd. Alex Darrah and our first lady Shonie Shoemaker in an impressive 5th place

The Indian Motorcycles race pits were packed with riders and spectators young and old racing everything from Stacyc Electric Mini Bikes and Super 73’s to full bore 1200cc Super Hooligan machines and nobby clad dirtbikes. The race pits are always our favorite place to hang and let’s race fans interact with the riders inspiring the next generation of racers to get out there and shred.

The Vintage Air Cooled, Open Singles, Desert MX, Run What Cha Brung, Mad Dog Mini, Electric Open and Super Moto Classes brought a huge amount of variety and excitement with many brands and styles of bikes represented. It’s not just the racing that’s cool for the fans, but to see such a variety of bikes being pushed to the limits by the brave competitors

The @ConcreteCowboysss stunt show brought down the house with one handed 12:00 wheelies and beyond as the Cowboys ground off rear fenders and Shredded @ridedunlop tires on there massive custom painted metal flake vtwin stunt bike. The crowd favorites riders include @cbearstunts @tallboyytee @cjbarham_ @bikelifemikey97 and @joecommedy who painted the concrete black and left a mark on the parking lot and the crowd laying down an extra layer of rubber for the Super Hooligan racers main events.

73CONTEST.jpg

A surprise highlight of the even was the Super73 wheelie contest held on the Mission Foods Super hooligan track. The oval track added an extra level of difficulty as riders of all ages had to navigate the corners while showing their style on one wheel. First and second place were taken by best friends and rivals…

kidsrace.jpg

The Stacyc Kids races always bring a lot of hype and get the kids beyond excited. It’s both cute and competitive as our youngest racers get to line up against the competition to bang bars and see who’s the quickest around the Mission Foods Super Hooligan oval. The 12” race win was taken by Aria Allesi, 2nd was Falcon Mayberry followed by Mason Escobar, Cooper Console and Rascati Bradly in 5th. The 16” Stacyc class was won by Coooper Console with Xander Escobar in 2nd and Austin Bean in 3rd. Cayden Barron and Ozzy Duran rounded out the top 5.
